From the bottom of our Day Camper hearts, THANK YOU for an amazing weekend at Camp Wavelength 2017! From whisky snow cones to campfire comedy, from chill hangs by the water to high-energy shows in packed venues, this year’s festival really felt like Toronto summer at its dreamiest peak – as well as acting as the perfect cosmic warm-up for Monday’s solar eclipse, bringing this year’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” theme full circle.
THANK YOU to everyone who supported us through our big move off the Island, and came through to lend a hand and pitch a metaphorical tent as we laid down stakes at three different locations.
THANK YOU to all our artists, who went with the flow after the flooding, and still were down to get crazy and creative.
THANK YOU to our venue hosts at The Garrison and The Great Hall Toronto for so eagerly giving Camp Wavelength a new home for our Night Camp shows.
THANK YOU to the City of Toronto for helping us find a new home at Sherbourne Common for our Day Camp shows, and to Parks, Forestry & Recreation staff for your support and guidance.
THANK YOU to all our funders for your ongoing support: the OMDC (Ontario Media Development Corporation), the Ontario Ministry Of Tourism, Culture & Sport, the Ontario Arts Council, Toronto Arts Council, Canadian Heritage, Canada Council for the Arts | Conseil des Arts du Canada, FACTOR, TD, Slaight Music, and the SOCAN Foundation.
THANK YOU to all our partners for being such great collaborators: Gibson’s Finest Canadian Whisky, Steam Whistle Pilsner, Red Bull Sound Select, Psiphon Sessions, The Hogtown Vegan, Urbane Cyclist, Fanny Factory, Pommies Cider Co., Monarch Tavern, Trip To The Moon, Exclaim!, Indie88, CIUT 89.5 FM, POP Montreal, Arboretum Festival, and Up Here festival.
THANK YOU to our tech staff who made us sound so amazing.
THANK YOU to our visual artists who made us LOOK so great, especially Roxanne Ignatius, General Chaos Visuals, and VERSA.
THANK YOU to all our comedians, performance artists, video game makers, vendors, book lenders, and dream-weavers, who made Day Camp into a creative wonderland.
THANK YOU to all our VOLUNTEERS for lending us your weekend and being up for helping out with anything!
THANK YOU to all of the Camp Wavelength 2017 staff of dedicated Camp Counsellors for working hard all summer to make this happen! Aaron Dawson, Adam Bradley, Heather Gillis, Matt Ryan, Dwayne Slack, Rich Taylor, Jacob Gelcer, Helen Androlia, Joe Howell, Jubert Gutierrez, Jenn Bonar, Josh Beaulne, Marko Cindric, Evely Escobar, Derek Ma, Mike Pereira, Tyler Belluz / Home Base Publicity, Colin Harrington / A Pocket History of Mars, Cassandra Popescu, Danielle Burton, Glen Newbury, Arianne Tong, Shaun Hatton, and Cam Millar.
THANK YOU to Wavelength’s Board of Directors for your leadership and support: Dean Williams, Matt Seymour, Scott Ingram, Sally Lee, Jonathan Shedletzky, and Rich Taylor.
And THANK YOU to our original home of Artscape Gibraltar Point for holding on as long as we could – we hope to back on Toronto Island in 2018.
But the last word must go to our Camp Wavelength 2017 closers, Deerhoof: “An additional and special and more elaborated and detailed THANK YOU, in this particular case, because of the extremely high degree of fun.”
