June 13 through 15, Wavelength sets up shop at Creatures Creating Gallery for a trio of showcases for NXNE. Thursday night we team up with Diamond Atlas to co-present a glittering evening of electronic, pop, ambient and global/tribal sounds.
Creatures Creating Gallery, 822 Dundas St. W.
Admission with NXNE wristband or $12 at the door.
1am – DOOM SQUAD
Toronto/Montreal – New age dance spooks playing resonant crystals from the core of the moon. Bask in the cosmic rays.
12am – PROGRAM (formerly Volcano Playground)
Toronto – Their beats are recordings of the Tin Man’s heart. A forceful, deep-feeling pop assemblage with a new record produced by the legendary Dave Newfeld.
11pm – PETRA GLYNT
Toronto – Gilt jungle drums, netherworld-tethered electronic splatters and a warbly voice thrash in a squall of rainbow flame. Alex MacKenzie brings the freak.
10pm – MISS ELIZABETH
Toronto – Synth-pop shabop. The soaring singing of Silent Shout’s Tom Avis is carried on wings of bubbly, blippy synthesis and snappy robo-drums.
9pm – HOME ALONE
Toronto – Gauzy weed pop, floating through semi-sleep to a time bygone or not yet known. Slow motion slow dance into the mist.
