Most art events like opening receptions, conferences, concerts, and dance presentations require sound amplification. Through this live sound workshop participants will learn the basics of setting-up a sound system for live events. The workshop facilitator will teach participants how to connect equipment like microphones, mixer consoles and speakers to ensure proper sound amplification in a given space. No prior experience is necessary.
Outline:
Live sound tools overview: mics, sound board, speakers, monitors, cables, audio snake
Ins: how do we run sound into a board? board organization, demonstrate micing a few different instruments
Outs: how do we run sound out into speakers & monitors?
Sound check: how do we make it sound good? setting gain, basic eq, basic effects
During the event: fader control, using your ears, feedback, cable management
Tear down: order of events, equipment maintenance
