ELEVEN: The Wavelength 11th Anniversary Festival
Feb. 16-20, 2011 • Toronto
“One Louder”
ELEVEN celebrates the 11th Anniversary of the Wavelength music series, a Toronto institution which “fundamentally changed the city’s music scene” (The Globe and Mail). Last year, the series celebrated its 10th birthday with the massively successful Wavelength 500 Festival, which marked the conclusion of “the weekly concert series that changed Toronto indie-rock” (Eye Weekly) and the series’ transformation into a mobile, monthly platform. This year, Wavelength goes “One Louder” with 22 bands over 5 nights at 5 venues, and a forward-thinking focus on the newest, freshest independent music from Toronto and beyond. Ontario’s musical history will be celebrated with a special performance by Simply Saucer, the proto-punk band that emerged from Hamilton in the early 1970’s. Artist workshops and a speaker series will also demystify the story behind the music.
