Due to the flooding on Toronto Island, for one year only, Camp Wavelength 2017 became DAY CAMP IN THE CITY.
The historic, hundred-year high water levels meant that Toronto Island Park was closed for most of the summer, and we were forced to relocate the 2017 edition to three different venues: free Day Camp shows took place at Sherbourne Common, a City park on the waterfront just east of the Island ferry docks, while ticketed Night Camp shows were held at The Garrison and The Great Hall. Despite the challenges of moving the entire festival, we were still able to present ALL our announced musical artists, along with the many of the same magical arts and activities audiences have come to expect from Camp Wavelength.
With a new format, but the same awesome vibe, our “more than music” activities included: pop-up Campfire Comedy sets, a mermaid performance by Rebecca Felgate, DIY videogames by Mattendo, an interactive table-top game called Schwister, a blanket fort, a VR game demo, and much more!
