Wavelength celebrates 25 years of musical independence with our Winter Festival 2025. In honour of our silver anniversary, we’re ringing in the new year with three incredible nights of programming at St. Anne’s Parish, which is now the home base for our programming.
Winter Fest 2025 is not just a celebration for us, but for long-time supporters and the Toronto music community who have watched us grow from a weekly Sunday night club-show series in 2000 to the non-profit multi-format platform we are today. 25 is a special birthday for us and we can’t wait to have you join us for this year’s festivities.
Featuring returning Wavelength staples and emerging underground talent, each night on this year’s lineup is stacked from head to toe, bringing together diverse underground music genres, from indie and punk to hip-hop and experimental.
We start things off on night one with an evening themed around hip-hop artist/activist pHoenix Pagliacci’s latest album Dichotomy. In addition to a performance from pHoenix, the rest of the lineup will feature sets by artists who guested on the album, including gothic post-punk drone sisters Bonnie Trash, raucous Afro-punk trio The OBGms, and DJ sets from everyone’s favorite “bedroom rapper”/Wavelength favourite Cadence Weapon. The evening will kick off with a cross-cultural improv collaboration from Gurpreet + Truss.
Friday night’s lineup (night two) will feature two floors of amazing guitar bands across a range of 21st century indie music styles. Upstairs will feature swoony dream-pop band Tallies, Montreal indie folk crooner Alex Nicol, and Toronto’s buzzy, jangly indie pop crew Ducks LTD. Downstairs features music from garage punk outlaws Priors, new wave tinged indie-pop project Essie Watts, and the return of Controller. Controller, a band whose infectious dance-punk sound left a mark on the 2000s. All-vinyl DJ sets from the always amazing SadStab.
And finally on night three, we conclude Winter Fest 2025 with two massive lineups both upstairs and downstairs. Upstairs will have music by Montreal shoegazers Bodywash, Anishnaabe indie-rock duo Ombiigizi, and the incomparable musical genius Owen Pallett. Downstairs will feature ambient songstress Erika Angell, funk, synth-pop superstar Jane Inc. and coming all the way from the UK, enchanting electro-pop artist Mui Zyu. DJ sets from queer dancefloor lovers Precious Jewel.
See you at Winter Fest!
