Fresh off the success of our THIRTEEN Festival, Wavelength turns down the volume with a hushed Spring Equinox show on the refurbished main floor of the Monarch Tavern on Thursday March 21

This evening will feature a solo piano + electronics performance by a special international guest, Icelandic composer/producer and record label owner, Valgeir Sigurðsson. Best known as producer of works by Björk, Feist, CocoRosie, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy and múm, Valgeir is co-founder of the Bedroom Community record label (along with Nico Muhly and Sam Amidon) as well as Iceland’s top recording facility Greenhouse Studios. He is touring North America in support of his third solo recording, Architecture of Loss, a masterwork of minimalist classical electronica.

Local support comes from Prince Nifty, the uncategorizable Toronto act associated with Block Recording Club label and the Double Double Land art space, whose music incorporates folk, electronica, soul and musique concrète. And we are pleased to bring Michelle McAdorey back to the Wavelength stage after a long absence. The roots-inspired singer-songwriter and former Crash Vegas vocalist has recently released a lovely new 7” on Seventh Fire Records, produced by Blue Rodeo’s Greg Keelor.
