A collaborative electronic music project by Brandon Gibson-DeGroote and Mike Pereira, which took its name as an homage to the famous “rave tapes” of Toronto’s past — literally, the home-taped cassettes of DJ party mixes that were available at local record shops in the 1990’s.
An “immersive, interactive dance party,” RAVETAPES is a vision for dance and electronic music that is performed live and invites the audience to participate in the music making.
RAVETAPES will literally act as a walk down “memory lane” through creating an immersive experience that will place visitors into an reminiscent environment through nostalgic visuals, sounds and experiences. RAVETAPES will take the visitor back to the heyday of illegal warehouse parties, glowsticks, garish hand-delivered flyers, and secret telephone hotline numbers and meeting places.
