The Wolfnote formed in November 2001. Comprised of vets from within the local Edmonton, Alberta, scene, the quintet ardently struck out with an edge of raw danger permeating all of their post-hardcore aggression, dark punk swagger, and direct, vaguely danceable rock anthems. Bryan Kulba (guitar, synths, vocals), Rosaleen McGurry (bass, vocals), Thomas Kerr (guitar, vocals), Travis Sargeant (vocals), and Garrett Krueger (drums) released two full-length albums and various 7″s and splits in their time together, in addition to playing shows across North America with a diversity of bands like Bury Your Dead, Hot Hot Heat, Ensign, and Sincebyman. The group signed with Ontario, Canada’s Black Box Recordings in 2004 and released This Is the Getdown that June; the record was subsequently followed the next summer by Sacred Bodies, an acclaimed album produced by Alex Newport (At the Drive-In, the Icarus Line).
