From Montreal, She-Devils want to show you there is a fine line between paying homage to music history and defacing it, as they paint crudely overtop of it with simplistic drawings. Audrey Ann sings atop of Kyle Jukka’s murky vinyl-sampled sounds and textures. The two performers have no interest in exhibiting any kind of refined musicality, but rather intend on creating impressions that burrow into the heart and imagination. The duo has been writing songs together and performing since the summer of 2014 and released the She-Devils LP in 2017 on Secretly Canadian Records.
