Odiorne

Buffalo, NY’s Odiorne began as a side project for original Mercury Rev member, Jimy Chambers, prior to his departure from the band in 1998. Chambers recorded with Dave Fridmann (Mercury Rev, Flaming Lips), resulting in the Odiorne EP, Want Them Leaving More. Released in 2001 on Everlasting Records, the disc received high praise from the likes of Magnet and The Big Takeover. The band was approached to tour Spain in support of Mercury Rev; as a result, Odiorne was officially formed. Since then, the group has kept busy recording and performing live in venues throughout the States and Canada.

The music of Odiorne – described as “intricate arrangements and symphonic treatments atop heavy backbeats” – is captured on “Heavy Wish.” Each member contributes their influence, producing a heady amalgam of avant-experimentalism, jazz and post-punk. Comparisons are far ranging from “a well-orchestrated version of Joy Division” to Pink Floyd. Melodic, fierce and intelligent.
