Charles Spearin has been an active and influential part of Toronto’s music scene for over 30 years. A founding member of both Do Make Say Think and Broken Social Scene, Spearin has also toured extensively as a part Feist’s band as well as the late great Gord Downie’s Secret Path project.
In 2010 he won a JUNO in the contemporary jazz category for his heartwarming musical portrait of his downtown Toronto neighbourhood on his album The Happiness Project.
In 2019 he released a nyckelharpa and violin album entitled Thank God the Plague is Over with Swedish violinist Josefin Runsteen recorded in a tiny medieval chapel in northern Italy. In 2021 he released his second solo album call My City of Starlings.
Spearin’s 2022 Wavelength performance included an ensemble of 11 musicians, video projections, surround-sound nyckelharpa, tap-dancing and a pep talk from a robot.
This years performance will be something brand new.
