Originally formed in Ottawa in 2004 after the breakup of sophomore level psychology. SLP bassist/vocalist Natasha Beaudin and guitarist Nina Langfield were joined by guitarist/vocalist Christina Ballhorn and drummer Heather Osborne. After playing a few shows together, Heather left the band to join a farming community and former snailhouse drummer Dave joined the band to fill in. In the fall of 2005 Christina and Dave left the band to pursue other interests and les allumettes were joined by former bold maid guiatarist/vocalist Jordanna Merchand and former slow parker/makeshift/okara drummer Andy Cant.
