Femme Generation’s first full-length album Brothers and Sisters, Alone We Explode was produced in the summer of 2005 and officially released in February of 2006 on Permafrost Records. Produced by Dave MacKinnon of Fembots infamy, it was recorded in a barn in rural Southern Ontario and mixed at Chemical Sound in Toronto. Brothers and Sisters, Alone We Explode topped many Canadian and American college radio charts and quickly became a favorite among pod casters.
The summer of 2004 saw the release of Femme Generation’s debut EP Circle Gets The Square. With compositions that are as visceral as they are cerebral, it dazzled both fans and music critics, earning it a spot on NOW Magazine’s Top 10 albums of 2004. The EP was recorded over 2 days at the historic Weston Lions Arena utilizing the unique acoustics of an old ballroom overlooking the rink. Produced by Dave MacKinnon, the sessions were mixed at Chemical Sound in Toronto.
Femme Generation’s slow formation began in 2002 with Bernard Kadosh (Vocals, Guitar) and Aaron Hutchings (Keyboards) piercing their eardrums in a lonely rehearsal room. Just two weeks before recording Circle Gets The Square, Montreal émigré John Rivera (Bass) answered an ad the day after moving to Toronto and hopped aboard. After three years and two recordings, Paul Filippelli was replaced by Alex Hackett (Drums) in the summer of 2006.
